About Square ONE
The History and Origin
Square ONE came into focus after a Sheridan, Wyoming police officer lost his life in the line of duty on
February 13, 2024.
The tragedy revealed how unresolved anger, long‑standing legal issues, and emotional instability can escalate into irreversible harm.
Two days before Valentine’s Day, the gunman held himself in a 30‑hour standoff, leaving the community shaken and searching for answers.
When Sgt. Krinkee died, it had a profound impact on those involved and on the entire city.
It exposed a gap — a missing place where people could bring their frustrations, fears, and emotional pressure before they reached a breaking point.
Square ONE was created to fill that gap.
The Square ONE Model
(The Integrated Ecosystem)
"Square ONE is not an Organization
—It is a Movement of Restoration."
Square ONE creates pressure‑release valves so people have a safe place to bring their emotions, thoughts, anger, frustration, and fear before they spill into:
-
violence
-
addiction
-
isolation
-
distrust
-
community fragmentation
Square ONE is built to prevent that.
It is built around:
-
trauma
-
recovery
-
leadership
-
community stabilization
-
rebuilding identity
-
restoring trust
-
protecting people
-
creating order after chaos
Square ONE recognizes that individuals and communities often carry voids in:
-
safety
-
leadership
-
community trust
-
emotional processing
-
structural support
-
grounding
-
a place to bring pain and frustrations
Square ONE exists to fill those voids with clarity, structure, and support.
What “Square ONE” Means When we say, "The Way"
—Returning to the Right Way of Doing Things
Doing things the right way —When life has gone wrong.
Square ONE isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about having something solid to return to when life breaks,
when plans collapse,
or when tragedy hits harder than anyone expected.
Getting back to the basics —how you work,
how you treat people,
how you handle time and money— isn’t just “good practice.”
It’s how you regain control when everything feels out of control.
When someone goes through loss, failure, addiction, conflict, or burnout,
their world stops feeling stable.
Emotions spike, decisions get messy, and it becomes easy to drift into reactions instead of intention.
Square ONE provides a clear, simple place to stand again: A right way to handle relationships, a right way to show up to work, a right way to manage time, a right way to rebuild trust, a right way to move forward without pretending nothing happened.
The purpose of getting back to the basics is grounding.
It gives people something they can rely on when their feelings, circumstances, or past choices are all over the place.
It gives individuals the freedom to make mistakes along the way without losing direction.
When you return to the right way of doing things, you create stability —and stability is what makes restoration possible.
You can’t heal in chaos. You heal when there is
structure, clarity, and a way to take the next right step.
